Phuket Thailand

Phuket, Tuesday 26 March 2013

The ship spent one day in Phuket and we went on a tour in the morning to Siam Niramit, Village of the Four Regions which is essentially a cultural centre which showcased Thailand’s cultures and cuisines.

Getting off the bus we were greeted by dancers, pounding drums and crashing cymbals and a special performance by two elephants, one of whom danced and the other spun a hoop around its trunk!!  The dancing elephant also did a bow and crossed one of its legs when I went to photograph it!

The centre offered samples of various Thai food and there were displays of traditional costumes, dances and replicas of the life in a Thai village

There were elephant rides for those adventurous enough.  We were all given a parasol to provide some shade and to take away as a souvenir.
