Seville
Seville. We sailed up the Guadalquivir River to Seville and moored the boat in the middle of the town. One of the perks of being on a small ship. This was a fantastic location as we could just step off the boat and walk around. We were lucky to have a full day and night in the town so managed to see some of the night time sights as well.
Seville was the host city for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929, a World Fair. The buildings were built to remain after the event and present impressive sights around the city.
Malaga
Next stop in Spain was Malaga, another nice town to walk around.
Barcelona
We were in Barcelona a few months ago for eight days and will return at the end of our next cruise a month later so we didn’t do much of the tourist thing here. On our last visit we had found a local restaurant in the Gracia district where we were staying, so we walked along the Rambla and Passeig de Gracia to the Gracia district to have lunch. The restaurant does not really cater for tourists and food ordering was accomplished by pointing and extensive referral to Google Translate!
The most striking thing about Barcelona is the influence of Gaudi and his architecture, the La Sagrada Familia. This cathedral began construction in 1882 and is expected to be finished in 2026.
