We flew with Singapore Airlines from Sydney to London via a short stopover in Singapore. The first leg was in a Boeing 777 and the second leg was in an A380. Service was definitely “first class” and I think I have found a new favourite airline. We arrived into Heathrow at 7am and were escorted quickly through immigration and customs to our limo with a transfer to our hotel, all thanks to our travel agent – well done Eve!!
To ensure that we had a room available early in the morning, we had paid for an extra night so we were soon in our room, having a shower to freshen up.
After a leisurely breakfast, we caught up with an old friend and her son (who is also our godson) and spent the rest of the day chatting with them.
By 7pm we were totally wrecked and fell asleep. Unfortunately a couple of hours later, an air conditioning maintenance person came knocking, to fix our aircon… although inconvenient, it did mean that for the rest of our stay we were comfortable.
The next day we caught up with our friends and had Dim Sum lunch and then wandered around the Tower of London precinct and waited for our cruise ship to pass through the Tower of London Bridge.
In the moat around the Tower of London there are thousands of ceramic poppies stuck in the ground. These poppies are in memory of the fallen in the First World War.

The old and the new!
Some friends of ours were on the Seabourn Legend and disembarking the next day so once the ship had docked, we took the opportunity to catch up with them for an hour. Seabourn Legend tied up alongside HMS Belfast, in the Thames River.
Well it sounds fairly hectic. What about a holiday. I hope that commences on board . Keep well Cheers June
