First impressions as we sailed in to port suggested that this was an amazing place – and it was!

Rhodes started out as an overcast day. We did a four hour drive around the island with a few photo stops. The tour was interesting and the bus was very comfortable.
One of our stops was at a pottery factory where we had an explanation and demonstration.

A photo stop was outside the village of Lindos. Vehicles are not allowed in Lindos so to visit you need to park some distance and then it is a considerable walk up/down a steep climb to the village. When we arrived the car parks were full and the area teeming with tourists. We only took photos from a distance.

In the afternoon the sun burnt through the clouds and it turned out to be a bright, warm day. The ship was docked right next to the old town so I did a wander around. Another quite large cruise ship was also in port so the areas was very busy with tourists.

Love the pottery! xx
What gailandsamantha said. They took the words right out of my mouth! Is Rhodes the place that has the deer as a motif? I have a little decorative tile that a friend game me. It features a deer, and I’m sure she brought it back from Rhodes. But this was probably late 1970s/early 1980s so who knows how accurate my memory is?
Did you have any food there? Or just on the ship?
Yes to deer! We haven’t eaten off the ship yet but we often do. Particularly in the smaller less crowded ports.
I guess the ship food is so good.
