Winery Tour
We did a day tour to the Stellenbosch wine area which is about a 45 minute drive. We stopped at two wineries before lunch and then two after.
The first winery was Starke-Conde
Next stop was Haute Cabriere Cellar near Franschhoek
Lunch was at Guardian Peak Winery and was fantastic, as was the outlook from our table.
After lunch we went to the Waterford winery where we did a wine and chocolate tasting, where chocolates were paired with wine
The last winery of the day was Ken Forrester where we tried the Chenin Blanc.
On the drive to and from Cape Town we went by one of the area’s Shanty Towns. It was interesting to note that amongst the rudimentary dwellings there were many satellite dishes
After an amazing day, we slept well that night!
Cape Grace Hotel
Our hotel is in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and the area is bustling with activity. The hotel has Christmas decorations everywhere and in the lift foyers on each floor is a supply of Christmas cake which makes waiting for a lift very pleasurable. The hotel has an extensive whisky cellar where we had a whisky tasting and learnt a lot about the taste of peat smoke in whisky!
On our last day we wandered around the Waterfront and saw our ship arrive around midday

I’m green with envy. The wineries and scenery looks amazing. Nice way to end the year and start off the New Year. Happy Travels Jim and Sue
